Plantas de mi Casa

Peace Lily

Water: When the top inch or two are dry. They do not like to be sat in moist, soggy soil as this can lead to root rot. Can be sensitive to chemicals in tap water – best to use unfiltered, room-temp water or rain water, if possible.

Sun: Best in bright, filtered, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced water-soluble, complete fertilizer with a formula like 10-10-10.

Temperature: Prefer temperatures between 68 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 10 degrees less at night. Avoid temps below 60 as cold damage may occur.

Soil: Like rich, well-draining potting mix or compost to thrive. Though prone to rot in soggy conditions, they can be grown in water.

Repot: Choose a pot that’s 1 to 2 inches wider than current pot and plan to repot it during early spring season.

Monstera

Water: Every 1-2 weeks maintaining constant moist soil. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.

Sun: Need bright indirect light, they do not like direct light.

Fertilizer: 3-1-2 N-P-K this means three parts nitrogen, one part phosphorus and two parts potassium.

Temperature: Between 60 degrees and 80 degrees is great.

Soil: Well draining soil works the best.

Repot: When it becomes root bound. Don’t repot too soon, too much soil can lead to too much water retention.

Norfolk Pine

Water: Every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between watering’s. Can keep the soil semi-moist, but not wet, which can lead to root rot.

Sun: Thrive in medium to bright indirect light, though they can benefit from a few hours of direct sun.

Fertilizer: Apply 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer every two weeks during growing period. Don’t fertilize in winter or reduce to less than the frequency of watering.

Temperature: Keep between 65 and 85 degrees. It’s best not to let it go below 60 degrees.

Soil: Use soil based potting mix.

Repot: Every two to three years.

Gollum Jade

Water: Every other week. Allow soil to dry out between watering’s. Fall and winter are dormant seasons, water every 3-4 weeks. If it’s squishy or shriveled, it probably needs water.

Sun: At least four hours of ‘morning sun’, too much bright light can cause sunburn on its leaves. If it develops yellow or brown spots, move to a less lit location.

Fertilizer: 5-10-5 formula of NPK, only do once a year during growing season.

Temperature: Prefers 55 to 74 degrees. Don’t let go below 50 degrees.

Soil: Gritty, well drained potting mix. Can use mix designed for cacti and succulents.

Repot: Every 2-3 years or when it has outgrown its current container.

Jade

Water: Do not like sitting in constantly moist soil. Let the top two inches of soil dry out between watering’s. Probably every 2-3 weeks.

Sun: Mature Jades can handle direct sunlight while younger Jades should be in bright indirect sunlight, both for at least 6 hours a day. Without proper light, they can stop growing or grow tall and leggy. South-facing windows or western facing windows tend to get the best light.

Fertilizer: Best time to fertilize is during it’s active growing season, typically spring or summer. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer with an NPK ratio of 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 should work well. Repeat the process every 4-6 weeks during growing season.

Temperature: Do best with daytime temps between 65 and 75 degrees, at night they are best between 50 and 55.

Soil: Prefer a loose, rocky soil that is well draining. Avoid traditional all-purpose potting soils.

Repot: They don’t mind being root-bound. For young Jades, every 2-3 years to encourage growth. Older Jades should be repot every 4-5 years or as necessary. Don’t water for at least a week after and wait at least a month to fertilize so as not to burn fresh roots accidentally.

Watch Chain

Water: Soak and dry method works best, allowing the soil to dry out between watering’s. Check weekly, but every other week should be fine. Water less in cooler months, at least once a month.

Sun: Do really well under more sun, at least 6 hours of full sun.

Fertilizer:

Temperature: As long as they don’t go below freezing, they should be fine.

Soil: Well draining soil with many holes in the pot will be best. Can use soil mix made for succulents.

Repot: Try to get a pot 1-2 inches wider than the current one.
